How RevCom Works
- Once a document is loaded into the RevCom database, the system facilitates the segmenting of the documents into manageable sections so that comments are easier to make, manage, and access. Documents can be segmented into chapters, sections, pages, paragraphs, or other manageable units.
- Organizations and individuals receive email notifications assigning or inviting participation. As the review progresses, participants receive email reminders of upcoming due dates.
- Participants log in to RevCom to access the document under review. Comments are entered into the system by section. Participants can see each other's comments to collaborate on document development. When a reviewer has finished with the document, the comments are routed to the next step in the workflow.
- Once the review is complete and comments have been entered, consolidated, edited and approved according to the business rules, a designated user responds to comments, creates a new version for an additional review, or publishes the final document.
- Customers can use the RevCom Portal to access published documents and drafts undergoing review in accordance with the enterprise policy for publications.
RevCom Tools and Reports
Management reports provide extensive details about each activity of the workflow and can define and assess the progress based upon performance standards established by the customer. Reports can be set up by the site office, by document version, for the entire organization, etc. For example, the Document Planner reporting tool helps to identify bottlenecks and evaluate reviewers' workloads. These reports were added to RevCom specifically to answer customer demand to help improve alignment within large organizations by linking program and account structure to performance objectives.
